Those within our profession understand that what we do does not necessarily come easy or without risk and realize that at times there are no guarantees that when we knock on a door or make contact with someone we would be greeted with open arms.
This page was created to honor the memory of those Code Enforcement professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, were active officers when they passed on or have been hurt while performing their duties.

State Inspector Bill Shaline: Killed on June 21, 2000 during an inspection of a sausage factory.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Compliance Inspector Jean Hillery: Killed on June 21, 2000 during an inspection of a sausage factory.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Compliance Inspector Tom Quadros: Killed on June 21, 2000 during an inspection of a sausage factory.
Ramsey Co. Housing Code Enforcement Officer Don Juenemann: Killed during an Inspection on December 24, 1997.
Bakersfield Code Officer Cynthia Volpe: Killed along with her husband and mother by Robert Lezelle Courtney as a result of code enforcement activity against Mr. Courtney.
City of Commerce Texas Code Enforcement Officer Michael Walker: Gunned down during an inspection.
Memphis TN Code Enforcement Officer Mickey Wright: Killed by Dale Mardis during an inspection.
Gordon County Ordinance Officer Kathy Cox: Killed in a head-on collision in Georgia.
West Sacramento Senior Code Enforcement Officer Cathy Hill: Died Unexpectedly on August 4, 2007.
City of San Mateo Code Enforcement Officer Charlie Thomas: Died of a heart attack on August 29, 2007.
Former Corona Code Enforcement Officer Tony Romero: Died of cancer.
County of Riverside Supervising Code Enforcement Officer David Christensen: Died of cancer.

Georgia Code Enforcement Officer Beau Weathers: Received gunshots wounds to the right side of his body and face during an inspection.
Sandy City UT Code Enforcement Officer Rob Durfee: Attacked and injured during an inspection.
Clarkstown Code Enforcement Officer Jeffrey Meara: Attacked and stabbed several times while taking photographs in 2007
Former Lake Elsinore Code Enforcement Officer Richard De La Cruz: Injured in an attack during a Business License inspection in 1984.
